Zero to Hero- 4 weeks Basics woodworking course

This past week, our Zero to Hero students reached that rewarding moment where separate pieces of timber finally come together into something real and solid. Kyle (figuratively) nailed the circular rounded edges of his planned tabletop and Ahmed Othman is still deciding on the orientation of his shelves.

Just a few steps away, Mr. Hatem and Ahmed stood at the lumber rack for the first time, learning how to read the grain and choose the right wood for their very first project.
Meanwhile, Kamal, Mokhtar and Abdelazim wrapped up their final Cabinet Making session, testing those smooth drawer slides with the kind of proud smiles you can only earn after hours of patient detail work

In the carving room, the chisels and knives came out as our new wood and chip carving students took their first quiet cuts into the wood.

This is not one of those “make a box” workshops, we are focusing on delivering a joyful experience with real learning, woodworking is a journey that we will guide you through. That is why we tailored this course to facilitate learning in a welcoming environment where you can gain technical skills and enjoy the art of woodworking.

The program was thoughtfully designed to enable you to follow your passion and discover what you really enjoy making. In this course you will choose a project from 2 available designs to execute with set types of joinery to be learned. This course is intended for you to learn proper woodworking in a short time with a straight to the point program to stay focused on the project building process from start to end. Just bring along your creativity and determination and leave the rest to us!

COURSE TOPICS:

Learn about wood as a natural material, its different types and their suitable applications.
Learn about buying and preparing wood.
Learn about marking techniques, cut lists, and product dimensions.
Learn about and implement wood joinery and methods of assembly.
Learn about and implement wood forming and shaping methods.
Learn how to use hand tools to make your project.
Learn about and use wood finishes.
Learn about and follow workshop safety and precautions.

TIMEFRAME:
8 sessions over 4 weeks morning or evening groups.
Mornings from 10 am to 1 pm or evenings from 6 to 9 pm.

INVESTMENT & BENEFITS:

Trainees will be part of the online community where they can share progress, knowledge and get support.
Maximum number of trainees is 6 per round.
No prior experience is required.
Trainees will each have a
workbench during the course.
Fees include all materials and trainees keep their projects.
