Aflam – Cinémas des Mondes Arabes Comes to Egypt
For the first time since its creation, the Aflam – Cinémas des mondes arabes festival, a major cultural event held annually in Marseille, France, is taking its program beyond its usual venues and screening a special selection at the French Institute in Egypt.
Curated in collaboration with the Aflam festival’s artistic team, the Cairo selection echoes the key theme of the Marseille edition: the preservation, restoration, and dissemination of Arab film archives.
The selection opens with Little Dreams by Khaled El-Hagar, presented in its newly restored version for the first time in the Arab world. The screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the preservation and restoration of film archives, before concluding with Jocelyne Saab’s Ghazl Al Banat, which will premiere in Egypt for the first time.
This initiative is part of the Mediterranean Season 2026 closing programme, organised by the French Institute with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture.
