Description
Red Stain is a solo painting exhibition by Aliaa Elgready at Gallery Misr in Zamalek.
The show asks when what we see becomes what we are. It follows a red shape in an empty space and the people around it, who give the stain names, then a place in their lives, and slowly give up their right to question what they have made. Its reverence is not a property of the stain but a relationship the community builds with it. What begins as a conversation about an image, where one person saw a flower and another saw a sun, becomes a single image for everyone.
On view until Tuesday 27 October.
